I was talking to someone the other day and they were down on themselves a little bit. They made the comment that they wanted to be a Chef. Then they proceeded to tell me that one of the people they looked up to, told them to “be realistic, you can’t do that”
I learned 2 things from that conversation.
- Words are powerful. Never discourage someone from wanting to pursue his or her dreams.
- Teach my kids to never give up on what they want to truly do in life. Teach a kid to never quit dreaming and always be the hardest working person in the room.
There is great friend of mine who works at a very successful company in the town I live in. We got into a somewhat deep conversation one day and the question came up. “ If you had to do it over again, what would you Re-Do?”
His answer was immediate and with emotion.
He Said “I would have never quit football in college”
The way he answered it, I knew he had spent many nights wrestling with the fact that when the going got tough he quit. To this day, 15 years later he still believes it was one of the biggest mistakes he has ever made.
If you do what is EASY your life will be hard.
They say that quitting is just like everything else. It gets easier and easier the more you do it. I hope I never can vouch for that.
Don’t Quit… Go achieve the impossible.
